I'm a Scottish Country Dancer, and I was absolutely delighted to see the "Flowers of Edinburgh" sample link in your article. You're right about the music; it's horrible, isn't it? But as a tool for learning or revising a dance, it's more than adequate, as it gives the viewer a chance to hear the melody, and then he/she will know what to expect at a dance (each Scottish Country Dance is usually associated with one "main" tune, sometimes, but not always with the same title as the dance). Thanks for sharing this wonderful snippet. The link to the SCDML page (http://www.strathspey.org/scdml/ ) isn't working, but I've written to Anselm to ask him what he knows.
